Ovarian Reserve Test Indore
Ovarian Reserve is a measure of quantity of eggs contained within the woman’s ovary at any given point of time. Out of the various tests available, antral follicle count (AFC) done by ultrasound scan or a blood test anti mullerian hormone (AMH) are the most common. Since no test is absolutely accurate, an information is gathered by combining them to assess the ovarian reserve. Apart from these tests, females’ age remains the prediction of first choice.
Who should get It done?
Ovarian Reserve Test is more important for women, who have a higher risk of reduced ovarian reserve, such as
- Age more than 35 years
- Unexplained infertility
- Have a single ovary
- H/O Ovarian Surgery/ Chemotherapy of pelvic irradiation
- Family history of early menopause
- Have shown a poor response to gonadotropin ovarian stimulation
Interpretation of tests for Ovarian Reserve
Currently, Ovarian reserve tests have been shown to be accurate predictors of quantitative aspects of ovarian Reserve & thereby of the response to ovarian hyperstimulation. However, they are not the qualitative predictors of ovarian Reserve and thus not good predictors of the occurrence of pregnancy.
